Connect my site to a domain registered elsewhere
Connect your site to a domain you already own but that’s located with another provider or is with 123 Reg in a different account.
Note: Domains registered with 123 Reg but in a different account than Website Builder will need to have a Change of Account (COA) to the same account with Website Builder, or it'll need to be transferred away to another registrar.
Other options include:
- Connect your website to a domain in your 123 Reg account.
- Buy and connect a new domain that you don’t own yet.
Note: The cost of hosting your site is separate from the cost of your domain. Compare plans and pricing.
- Go to your 123 Reg product page.
- Scroll to Website Builder and select Manage next to your website to open your site.
- Select Edit Website or Edit Site to open your website builder.
- Select Settings.
- Next to your domain, select Manage.
- In the My Domain dropdown box, select Add an external domain.
- Select Next.
- Enter your domain in the box to check if it’s valid.
- In a new window, we’ll show you information specifically for your site. Sign in to your DNS provider or your other 123 Reg account and change your DNS records. Check with your other DNS provider if you need help.
- After you’ve changed your DNS records with your DNS provider or in your other 123 Reg account, check the box for Yes, my domain’s A Record has been updated.
- Select Save & Publish.
Connecting to your 123 Reg domain usually takes a few minutes but can take up to 72 hours.
